Spec Homes

Speculative homes, or spec homes, are used by builders to show a prospective buyer what their potential home will look like. They are used by builders who understand the balance between amenity and reliability because they provide all the stability of a standard new home while allowing customers to envision what their new home will eventually look like. Spec homes are viewed by prospective buyers so they can see what they will be getting when their home is done. That said, it is also possible to purchase a spec home. They are typically a full build, although it is possible to find one still under construction. Once a development is done being built, the developer or builder may sell the spec home at a reduced price.
